General Information

The Court has fourteen General Division judges and one Environmental Division judge. Judges preside over civil, criminal, and traffic cases and conduct both jury and non-jury trials. The Court’s jurisdiction includes traffic cases, misdemeanor criminal cases, and civil cases where the amount at issue is $15,000 or less.


The Environmental Division has exclusive jurisdiction to enforce local codes and regulations affecting real property, such as fire and building codes. Despite its jurisdiction and name, the Franklin County Municipal Court is the judicial branch of the City of Columbus government.

Important Information

The Franklin County Municipal Court is located just north of Interstate 70, in downtown Columbus, Ohio, in the County Complex bounded by High Street, Fulton Street, Front Street, and Mound Street. The Municipal Court building is the southernmost building facing High Street in the County Complex.

The Court is convenient to COTA  bus stops and directly on the CBUS route   

Upon arriving for Court, all visitors are required to go through Court Security

 

 ODOT is conducting a major construction project   that directly impacts visitors to the Municipal Court, particularly those parking in the garages.

2023 Court Holiday Schedule with Early Closures   

The statutory interest rate applicable when money becomes due on a written instrument, R.C. 1343.03(A), and to judgments rendered in civil actions for tortious conduct and breach of contract, R.C. 1343.03(B), will remain at 3% per annum for judgments granted during the calendar year of 2022, as recently determined by the Tax Commissioner pursuant to R.C. 5703.47.
